CARROLL, Samuel F. of Bloomfield, 95, affectionately known as "Pop-Pop" passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. He resided in Hartford and Bloomfield for over 50 years with his beloved wife of 65 years, Flossie E. (Singleton) Carroll.

He was born July 31, 1920, in Philadelphia, PA, son of Samuel Carroll and Pearl (Hollis) Carroll. He attended schools in Philadelphia and moved to New Jersey with his family.

In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in WWII, stationed in the Philippines. In 1947, Samuel was honorably discharged, decorated with victory, good conduct and Asiatic Pacific campaign medals.

In 1951, he met and married Flossie. In 1958, they settled to Hartford, CT. with their daughters, Hollistine and Carol. He was employed by Thomas Cadillac and later as a custodian for the Town of West Hartford and as a security officer for the State of Connecticut, Oakhill School for the Blind. He retired from both positions. Samuel was a deacon of The First Church of the Living God. He loved God and his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters and a son-in-law, seven grandchildren and their spouses, numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Pearl (Hollis) Carroll and his wife, Flossie E. (Singleton) Carroll.

A Home Going Celebration will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 12 pm., at First Church of The Living God, 70 Whitney St., Hartford. Burial will immediately follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be held at the church from 11am-12pm. Memorial donations may be made to the First Church of the Living God.
