US Congressman. He graduated from New Bloomfield Academy and was trained as a printer, eventually becoming publisher of the Perry County Democrat. He served in the Pennsylvania House in 1863, and was a delegate to the 1868 Democratic National Convention. Magee was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1872 and served one term, 1873 to 1875. After running unsuccessfully for reelection in 1874, he returned to publishing the Perry County Democrat. Magee maintained his involvement in politics, serving as a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions of 1876 and 1896.
