Nancy L. (Cormier) Golden, 75, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Loomis House in Holyoke. She was born in Chicopee, daughter of the late William and Anna (Trembley) Cormier and was a 1956 graduate of Holyoke High School. Nancy was a twenty-two year medical transcriber at Holyoke Medical Center, retiring in 1999, and had also worked part time in the same capacity at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton. She was the widow of John E. "Jack" Golden who predeceased her on February 7, 2014. Nancy is survived by six children: Jill A. Gagne of Holyoke, Joan C. Golden of Southington CT, Jane M. Vogel of Easthampton, Jean M. Knecht of Brookline NH, June M. Lavelle of Holyoke, and John W. Golden of Enfield CT, her sons-in-law Joseph Gagne, Robert Vogel, Jeffrey Knecht and Ben Lavelle, seven grandchildren: Allison O'Donnell and her husband Matt, Kara Gagne, Christopher and Megan Knecht, Caisey, Noah and Liam Lavelle, three sisters: Barbara Crosson of Holyoke, Sandra Shafer and her husband Sy of Springfield, and Joann Hathaway and husband Donald of Chicopee,a sister-in-law Gloria Cormier, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Neil and Kenneth Cormier, and two sisters, Jacqueline Kilpatrick and Janice Trudell. The Golden family would like to thank Patricia and James "Trigger" Tourigny, as well as the staff at Loomis House for the wonderful care and support given to Nancy. The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Saint Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday August 15 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament School, 21 Westfield Road, Holyoke MA 01040.
