Geneva Orvin Simmons, age 73, of Baxley, GA died Friday, April 8, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah.
Mrs. Simmons was born February 6, 1943 in Appling County to the late Alexis Ray Orvin and the late Ella Mae Burke Orvin. She was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired Seamstress.
Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Simmons and five brothers, Cecil Orvin, Bob Orvin, Sam Orvin, Frank Orvin and Buster Orvin.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her former husband, Lamar Simmons of Baxley; three sons & daughters in law, Kevin & Christy Simmons, Kraig & Christeena Simmons all of Baxley and Keith & Cindy Simmons of Alma; four sisters, Faye Beck of Hazlehurst, Willie Ree Altman of Alma, Winnie (Doug) Carter of Duluth and Eleanor Vickery of Brandon, Florida; seven grandchildren, Brandon Simmons, Kyle Simmons, Chelsea Simmons, Sommer Webster, Brayden Simmons, Matthew Simmons, Jordan Turner and one great grandchild, Jaxon Simmons.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Carter, Rev. Steve Altman and Rev. Michael McLintock officiating.
Interment will follow in Corinth Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Jeffery Simmons, Jimmy Dean Sikes, Richard Rainwater, Cohen Griffin, Bobby Vickery and Marty Orvin. Honorary pallbearers are members of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church and all friends and family in attendance.
Visitation will be Sunday evening 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Swain Funeral Home.
