Jan B. Ford, age 76, died unexpectedly on April 7, 2016 from a severe infection. While it was extremely sad to say goodbye to such an amazing woman, she left to sounds of laughter, surrounded in love. This was very fitting for her. She had such a great hearty laugh and so much love to give. Everyone was family to Jan.
Jan was born August 14, 1939 in Colfax, Washington to William (Bill) E. and Evelyn C. Everts. The family moved to Boise when Jan was in the 7th grade. She attended school at North Junior High and graduated from Boise High School.

She attended Boise Junior College, Boise State College, and Iowa State University, acquiring multiple degrees. She had many jobs. Right out of college, she worked in the Proctor and Gamble test kitchen. She then returned to Idaho where she taught in Cambridge. This is where she met her husband, Harold Ford. They later divorced.

Jan returned to Boise State University to study respiratory therapy. She worked for 20 plus years at St. Alphonsus as a respiratory therapist. She loved the people and the work that she did there.
Jan was very active in the community. She volunteered in the Boise schools, Catholic Church, Girl Scouts, and 4-H. She loved to garden and travel. Jan recently returned from a cruise to the Antarctic, crossing another goal off her bucket list. She was a long time skier and could beat most people down the hill, even at age 76. She loved attending and watching sporting events and was a long-time BSU season ticket holder for most sports.

Words cannot express the force of life that she was. She was constantly on the move and helped wherever and whenever she was needed. She was generous to a fault, and enjoyed giving quirky, but thoughtful, gifts. She was a great cook, seamstress, and gardener. Her sticky bottom rolls are legendary. She was so much to so many. Her death leaves a void that can’t be filled.
She is survived by her sister Barbara Arndt (Ed); children Michael Ford, Sarah Satterlee (Tom), Elizabeth Lopez (Enoc), Brenda Ford, Thomas Ford, and Josie Ford; grandchildren Jesse Satterlee (Caitlin), Meredith Lyda (Jared), Benjamin Lopez, Otilia Lopez; and 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

There will be a Vigil Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be performed Friday, April 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 2612 W State Street, Boise, with a celebration of life following at Catalpa Neighborhood Park.

Donations can be made in honor of her life to Nazareth Retreat Center, Ada County 4-H, or Bogus Basin.
