Mrs. Winifred “Bette” Bowen, 46, died Saturday in a Pacific Grove motel after an apparent heart attack. Born on the Peninsula, she attended Pacific Grove schools and Monterey Peninsula College. She moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, 11 years ago and returned recently to visit relatives. She was a member of the Quota Club of Fairbanks. She is survived by her husband, Howard, and daughter, Lori Ann Bowen, both of Fairbanks; a daughter, Mrs. Christine Sheets, and sons, Kenneth and Dennis Johansen, all of Pacific Grove; a son, Donald Johansen of San Jose; a sister, Mrs. Dan Watkins, of Mesa, Ariz.; brothers Joseph Graham of Carmel Valley and Don and Richard Jackson of Southern Califonia; and four grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Little-Chapel-by-the-Sea in Pacific Grove. Private burial will be in El Carmelo Cemetery, Pacific Grove. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
