BERTRAM, ALAN T. 90 - of Sea Isle City, formerly of Hi-Nella. Passed away peacefully at home on July 23, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Alan was born in July 1921 at his parents' summer home in Pine Grove. A loyal graduate of Penn State, Alan was a varsity swimmer, and remained a life-long member of Delta Sigma Pi and the Nittany Lions Club. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a regional sales manager of Rockwell International Manufacturing, and later in his career he was Chief Operating Officer of State Saw Co. in Baltimore. He was a voracious reader and a life-long student of politics and finance-always eager to engage in debate. He saw humor as essential and people who met him just in passing were likely to remember him as a charming character. He was an avid body surfer and rode hurricane surf until well into his seventies. He was a charter member of Sea Isle's North End Association. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Bette (nee Murphy). Loving father of Carolann Allen (Frank), Ted Bertram (Eileen) and Sue Textor (Stephen). Devoted grandfather of Audrey Allen (Christopher Fugaro), Ted Allen (Marci), Captain Matthew Textor, Kyle Textor, Lauren Textor, Patrick Bertram, Connor Bertram and Elizabeth Bertram. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church in Sea Isle City on August 27th at 11 am. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Beyond The Yellow Ribbon Foundation supporting military families at c/o Family Service Rochester 1110 Sixth Street NW Rochester, MN 55901
