Born May 31, 1934, in Scott County, daughter of the late Jesse Franklin and Eva Nolen Altom, she was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was the organist, for more than 45 years. She was a seamstress and piano teacher for many years, and was currently giving private piano lessons in her home and playing for the Sikeston Kiwanis Club.
On Jan. 15, 1967, she married Walker Glenn McClellan, and he preceded her in death Sept. 9, 1986.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Altom Jr.; and two sisters, Jean Harrington and Irene Minner.
She is survived by: one son, Joseph Altom McClellan; one sister, Laveda Marshall; three grandchildren, Caleb Brian Marshall, Summer Caitlyn McClellan and Ryliegh Ann Nicole McClellan; and three stepgrandchildren, Jacob Noisworthy, Christopher Noisworthy and Sara Grace Noisworthy.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. David B. Ross, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sikeston City Cemetery.
