Mrs. Sallie Ruth Jones Parker, age 78, of 868 Magnolia Farm Road in Warthen died on Thursday, April 7, 2016, in an Augusta hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 10 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Warthen with burial in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Tim Powell and Rev. Vernon Hudson will officiate. Pallbearers will be James Durden, Timmy Collins, Bobby Parker, Jr., Michael Robinson, Brent Hudson and Donald Jones.
Mrs. Parker was a native of Emanuel County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Thomas Edward Jones and the late Agnes Faircloth Jones. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Edward Jones, Jordan Jones, James Jones, Eunice J. Smith, Almetta J. Eli and Marie J. Collins. Mrs. Parker was a homemaker and an active member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband: Ira Lee "Duck" Parker, Jr. of Warthen, three daughters, Deborah Hudson Robinson and her husband Mike of Davisboro, Donna Hudson McCoy and her husband Elvis of Warthen and Leslie Parker Hudson and her husband Mark of Warthen, a son, Britt Hudson of Sandersville, nine grandchildren, Pamela Jill Thompson, Michael Brent Hudson, Nichole "Nicki" R. Yates, Toni R. Hightower, Michael L. Robinson, Jammy L. McCoy, Jarad E. McCoy, Chaz Parker Hudson and Olivia Kate Hudson, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Saturday.
