Shirley Spencer Ashley, 72, of Bassett, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at the Kindred Hospital. She was born in Henry County on May 19, 1943 to the late Clarence Woodrow Spencer and the Ada Carter Spencer.
She was a member of the County Line Church of God of Prophecy.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Hubert Ashley; two sons, Ira and Gayle Ashley, Rome Ashley and Kim Carter; two grandchildren, Brittany and Cory Branch; Tiffany and Jon Turner; step-granddaughter, Brittany Carter; great granddaughters, Holly Branch and soon to be, Lacey Turner; brother, Bud and Jane Spencer; several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 8th form 6 – 8 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Jeff Rhea and Pastor Freddie Bonds officiating.
