Jimmy was born in Roanoke, VA and then moved to Kingsport, TN as a child. He met his soul mate, Tammy, at the age of 17 where it was love at first site. They were quickly married after school.
He was a loving husband, a provider for his family and a wonderful father. His son, Scotty, was his best friend and they loved to go hunting, fishing, and riding horses together.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Maxwell; and mother, Johnnie Woods.
He leaves behind his wife and soul mate of 32 years, Tammy Sue Maxwell; sons, Scott Wayne and wife, Marli Maxwell and Loyd James David Maxwell; grandson, Haiden John Gage Maxwell; mother in law, Wanda Tipton; father in law, Earl Hughes, sister in law, Terry Hall; step-mother, Irene Maxwell; brothers, Tony and wife, Sharon Sweeney and Anthony Sweeney; sisters, Val and husband, Craig Riner, Alicia Hicks and Beverly and husband, Steve Alls; several step-brothers; lots of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; and a faithful dog, Harley.
Graveside service will be held at 3:00pm at East Lawn Cemetery .
