Born in Mechlenburg County, NC, he was a son of the late Clarence Bervard Choate and Annie Lee Alexander Choate. He is predeceased by his parents, a daughter, Barbara Louise Choate Hensley, one brother and three sisters.
Campbell was a veteran of the US Air Force and was a jack of all trades, having retired as a farmer and a truck driver. He was a lifetime Master Mason of Benton Lodge #26, a member of American Legion Post #1, and he was an Elder of Parkwood Presbyterian Church. He had a passion for gardening.
