Joyce Marguriete (Stenzel) McAllister

Great Falls —Joyce Marguriete (Stenzel) McAllister, 89, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 27, 2015.

Joyce was born February 4, 1926 to Julius and Luella Stenzel in Geyser, MT. She had many wonderful stories of growing up in Geyser where her family owned and operated Rex Garage. Joyce took the train from Geyser to Spion Kop for kindergarten to start school at an earlier age. Her love of learning never stopped and she continued her education in Geyser, Dillion, and Havre, MT.

She married the love of her life, Joe McAllister, on June 1, 1946 in Great Falls. This is where they made their home for 63 years until Joe passed away in 2010.

Joyce was an elementary school teacher for 40 years. She taught 4th and 5th grades in Geyser and then at Roosevelt and Morningside Elementary schools in Great Falls.

The most important thing in Joyce's life was her family. She was a wonderful wife and mother, and special grandmother to her four grandchildren who loved her dearly. She loved to vacation with her family and did so for many years in Whitefish, Glacier Park, and their family cabin in Monarch.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Jerry (Joanna) and Jeff (Marta); grandchildren Heather (James McKenzie), Daniel, Rebecca, and Sarah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At Joyce's request a family graveside service will be held.
