Willard Lane

Willard Lane, 75, Duffield, VA went to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Lane was born in Scott County, VA on September 16, 1936 to the late Charles Bascom and Alice Mae McGee Lane.

He worked at Holston Defense and retired from Alley's Chrysler Plymouth after 30 plus years of service. He loved to coon hunt, fish, working in his garden, and in his later years, he enjoyed sitting on the porch reading his books.

Willard was a loving family man and he enjoyed the simple life.

In addition to his parents, his infant grandson, Willard Chance Lane and his brother, C.W (Dub) Lane preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Ester Neeley Lane, Duffield, VA; daughters, Rhonda Williams and husband, Freddie, Kingsport, TN and Carmen Gilliam and husband, Keith, Blackwater, VA; son, Don Lane, Duffield, VA; grandchildren, Christopher Donnavan Lane, Kayla Nicole Gilliam, Cassandra Danielle Gilliam, and Noah Keith Gilliam; special daughter-in-law, Christy Renee'; sisters, Virginia Marshall and husband, Kenneth, Nickelsville, VA, Marie Jordan, Kinston, NC, and Margaret June Lane and husband, Glenn, Gate City, VA; brothers, Gary Lane, Black Mountain, GA and Mack Lane, Kingsport, TN; brother-in-law, Kenneth Neeley; foster brother-in-law, Leonard Neeley; sisters-in-law, Ruby Akers and husband, Buford, Eva Dell Darnell and husband, Sid, Charmie Gibson and husband, Otto, Anna Belle Rhoton and husband Gerald, and Nancy Lane; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Mickey Gibson and Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. Garry Hood; Anthony and Melissa Henry; and Kenneth Davis will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Christopher Lane, Freddie Williams, Keith Gilliam, Kayla Gilliam, Craig Taylor, and Blake Lawson will serve as pallbearers. Noah Gilliam will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Wednesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
