Colonel Roger Dean "Rog" Tucker, United States Air Force Retired, of Shalimar, Florida, departed on his final flight on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at age 85.
Rog was born on May 18, 1930, in Funston, GA.
He was predeceased by his parents Jeff and Carrie Tucker; his brothers Wanza, Raymond and sister Eteva. He is survived by his wife Tanya; daughter Shannon Minguey, son Randy Merrill; nieces Wanda Burson, Sandi Santaniello, Tanya Marshall and their families.
Rog proudly served in the United States Air Force for 28 years, flying a host of aircraft including the T-6, T-28, T-33, F-80, F-86, F-100, F-5, F-111, F-104 , F-4 and F-15 and was runner up at William Tell 1962 (European Theater). He graduated Air War College in 1972. When he retired, he was Test Director of the JTIDS (Joint Tactical Information Distribution System) program. Roger met his wife Tanya while stationed in Ankara, Turkey (CENTO).
After retirement from the USAF he worked for Northrop Corporation in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia as mission manager for five years.
Rog was an avid golfer and loved living in Shalimar. He was a member of the Order of Daedalians, Military Officers Association, Quiet Birdmen, Command Barstool Association, Fort Walton Yacht Club, Shalimar Pointe Country Club, Elks, Krewe of Bowlegs and Shalimar United Methodist Church.
Service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at Shalimar United Methodist Church.
