Wietze Veenstra
Wesley Veenstra, 92, died Jan. 4, 1987, at his Atwood home.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 at the Atwood Christian Reformed Church. The Rev. James Evenhouse will officiate. Interment will be in the Atwood Cemetery.
Mr. Veenstra was born Jan. 13, 1894, in The Netherlands, the son of Paul and Wilma (Terpstra) Veenstra. He came to the United States in 1913 and settled in the Atwood area.
On Dec. 27, 1917, he married the former Hattie Zylstra at Atwood. The couple operated a farm in the Atwood area. Mrs. Veenstra preceded him in death in 1975.
Mr. Veenstra is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George (Wilma) Wiersema of Jenison and Mrs. Henry (Theola) Elzinga of Atwood; a son, Paul Veenstra of Jenison; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grand-children; one brother, Andrew Veenstra of Atwood; one sister, Gertrude Veenstra of Grand Rapids.
A son, Lambert, preceded him in death.
The family suggests memorials to the Atwood Christian Reformed Church. Envelopes for that purpose are available at the Hastings Funeral Home, Ellsworth, where friends may call 2-9 p.m. today.
