The son of Joseph K and Ellen Austin Crandall, Mr Crandall was born in the town of Boylston July 14, 1867. His early life was spent in the townships of Boylston and Sandy Creek. He received his rural school education in these towns. On Dec 15, 1886 Mr. Crandall married Minnie Snyder, daughter of Amos Snyder who died April 24, 1924. Although always a farmer, he drew feed for Stevens Milling and Feed company for a time. He operated farms in and near Lacona for 50 years.
Surviving are seven children; Ward Crandall, Joseph Crandall and John Crandall Jr all of Lacona; Amos Crandall of Watertown, Mrs. Radcliff Wilder of Sandy Creek, Mrs. Donald Hitchcock of Pulaski, Mrs. James LaCelle of Lacona and Mrs. Roy Gardner of Fulton. 24 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Two brothers, Clayton Crandall of Sandy Creek and Clarence Crandall of Syracuse. Two children, Earl Crandall and Alta Mead, wife of Foster Mead are deceased.
Services were from the Crandall home on Orwell Road with Rev W S Dobbie officiating. Burial in Wesleyan cemetery.
