Lawrence C. Ellis, Jr.
1937 – 2016

Lawrence C. Ellis, Jr. was the second child born to Mr. Lawrence C. Ellis, Sr. and Mrs. Ulytha Cox Ellis in Lookeba, Oklahoma, on February 7, 1937. He was raised in Eloy, AZ, where he attended Eloy Elementary and Santa Cruz Valley High School, graduating in 1956. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Army serving his country overseas, then stateside as a member of the U.S Army Reserves for a total of six years. He was honorably discharged in 1965.

He later moved to Bakersfield, California, where he met his wife of 53 years, Nancy Lee Palmer-Ellis. To this union were born three beautiful children: Ayalia Vaniece Ellis, Daniel Marvin Ellis, and Ulytha Jean Ellis. Lawrence worked for Atlantic Richfield Company, now known as ARCO, for 23 years as a Field Engineer, retiring in 1996. He was a very hard worker and a jack-of-all-trades. He also had a passion for gardening (He had a green thumb for sure). You could always find him planting or cutting something down.

Lawrence loved people and always had a joke or something funny to say that would put a smile on your face. His favorite holidays were Christmas and his birthday, where he placed orders pertaining to what he needed. And when he opened his presents, he would say, "Boy, that’s alright.”

He was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Curtis Ellis and Joe Ellis; and two sisters, Deloise Ellis-Junell and Linda Sue Ellis-Graham. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Ayalia and Ulytha (Robert) of Bakersfield, CA; one son, Daniel (Tamara) of Viera, FL; three grandchildren, Deja Lawrence Robertson of Bakersfield, CA, Taylor Ellis and Christian Ellis of Viera, FL; one great-grandson, Mavryc Robertson of Bakersfield, CA; four sisters, Shirley Hudson of Irvine, TX, Maxine Geathers of Colorado, Christine Ross of Addison, TX, and Patrice Ellis of Tucson, AZ; two brothers, James Ellis of Stockton, CA, and Earl Ellis of Tucson, AZ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving relatives and friends.
