OBITUARY published on Jan 3, 1941, in the Virginia Gazette, Virginia, Cass County, Illinois: Geo. W. Armstrong Passes Away After Long Illness Tues. - George W. Armstrong well known Cass county farmer, passed away at his home south of Chandlerville Tuesday, following a long illness. Mr Armstrong was preceded in death by his wife in 1929. Just two years to the day, December 31, his son Thomas of Colorado was buried here. November 21st, 1940, his daughter, Mrs. Frieda L. Armstrong Mason preceded him in death at Angola, Ind. He leaves surviving him one brother Henry Armstrong, three daughters, Mrs. M. F. Dodge of Medora, Ill., Mrs. Emmett Erwin of Angola, Ind., Mrs. Raymond Pennington, Springfield, Ill.; four sons, Franklin [Franken] of Springfield, Ill., Charles Edward of Medora, Floyd of near Virginia and Harold of LaJara, Colorado, besides numerous other relatives and friends. Mr. Armstrong was born August 14, 1873, and had attained the age of 67 years, 4 months and 17 days at the time of his death. He was of a quiet and unassuming nature and whenever health permitted he enjoyed visiting with his many friends and relatives. He was a good judge of livestock and took great pride in his herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle. Several times he had shown some of his herd at the National Stock Show in Chicago. Funeral services will be held at the First Christian church in this city, tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m., Rev. L. R. Cronkhite, pastor of the church officiating. Interment in the Walnut Ridge cemetery with Lintner & Sons funeral service in charge.
