Margaret Mary McCue immigrated from County Tyrone Ireland in 1868 with her brother James. She worked in NYC until she met and married James Plunkitt, November 1, 1872 in the church of St. Paul the Apostle. James was a NY firefighter (Engine 23) and died in the line of duty, Oct 24, 1873. Their daughter Sadie was one month old. Margaret married a second time to James O'Connell April 20, 1876 in the church of St. Paul the Apostle. They had a daughter Helen Gertrude O'Connell (Mannheimer). James left Margaret and went back to Ireland by 1888. She resumed use of the Plunkitt name. She maintained a life long friendship with her brother-in-law, George Washington Plunkitt. He was a caring benefactor. She lived her entire adult life in Manhatten. Her two daughters were active in theatrical performances in New York between 1890 and 1900. They appeared in Belle of New York, Florodora, and others. Margaret lived at 306 W. 102nd Street at the time of her death.
