Zachary McIntosh Pate, age 22 of Marion, died on Sunday, March 9, 2003 as the result of a hiking accident.
He was a Senior at North Carolina State University. He loved his hometown and his friends and family and was loved by them. He loved and competed in many different sports.
Zachary was the son of Kenneth E. Pate of the home and Kaye McIntosh of Marathon, FL. He was born in McDowell County on May 20, 1980.
In addition to his parents, Zachary is survived by his Paternal Grandparents, Ernest C. and Geraldine Pate of Cary, N. C.; his Maternal Grandparents, Ross and Pat McIntosh of Hickory, N. C.; a brother, Matthew Pate, currently serving in the US Navy in Norfolk, VA and his wife Megan and one sister, Haley Pate of the home.
Services for Zachary will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2003 in Westmoreland Chapel at 3:00 PM with Rev. Jay Springer officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in McDowell Memorial Park.
