Dale Verner Shields born October 23, 1927 in Indiana, PA to Verner and Hazel (Burnheimer) Shields.

He was preceded in death by his wife Violet May (Fink) Shields, on November 21, 2012. Survived by sons Harry (Shirley) Shields of Phoenix, AZ; Arnold (Alice) Shields of Hemet, CA; daughter Marlene (Robert) Shields of Prescott, AZ; sisters Delores Stiffler of Shelocta, Pa, and Carolyn Ubert of Force, PA, brother Robert Shields of Squires, MO ; grandchildren Richard, Jason, Bradley, and Marie; and great-grandchildren Wyatt, Peyton, and Cheyenne.

He brightened everyone's day with his infectious smile. He was a song writer and entertainer, recording several of his own songs on the Gemini Label in Burbank, CA. He was inducted into the Greater Arizona Country Western Swing Association Hall of Fame in 2006. He loved children and animals, and will live on in the hearts of many. Being a 32nd degree Mason, he was devoted to entertaining at many many fundraising events for sick and crippled children, including Alisha Lambert's from Chino Valley in 1995. He's now resting with his beloved wife Violet.

Dale and Violet Shields


Dale and Violet Shields, formerly of Indiana, Penn., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 23, 1994. Dale also celebrated his birthday on the same day.

“Little” Dale is a country western recording artist and has written a number of songs and recorded Will Tomorrow Make the Teardrops Fall Again, That’s All Happened Time After Time, Marlene My Love, If I had a Million Dollars, A Long and Lonely Journey, I Nailed Him There and Heaven Is a Beautiful Place.

Dale has been entertaining since he was 10 years old in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Southern California, Nashville, Tenn, and Arizona. He has played guitar, appeared on television shows and has been an extra in several movies. He is still active in the music entertaining business and is now with the group “Little Dale and Wanderin Jim Mountain Country.” Wanderin Jim is a fiddle player who has been with Dale for over a year.
