John Thomas “Tom” Shook, age 85 of Grant Shook Rd. Greencastle, PA passed away at his home early Monday morning April 4, 2016.

Born November 23, 1930 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Harold W. and Susan (Angle) Shook. He married Helen I. (Haines) Shook on July 22, 1950.
Tom was a lifelong farmer and business entrepreneur.

Tom was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle. He sang with the Greencastle Rescue Hose Co. Minstrel Show for 44 years, having his last performance this past March. He enjoyed camping, all types of hunting and was a member of the Narrows Gun Club. Tom’s hobbies also included bird watching and restoration and collecting of antique Farmall tractors.
He volunteered for 15 years at the former Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, served on the Greencastle-Antrim School Board and was a bus driver. Tom was a 1949 graduate of Greencastle High School.

Surviving family in addition to his wife Helen are seven daughters, Wanda Koons of Greencastle, Patricia Bivens of Mercersburg, Sharon Rowe of Conway, SC, Susan Armstrong of Tarpon Springs, FL, Catherine Eaton of Tampa, FL, Ellen Freeman of Greencastle, Joy Bingaman of Port Richey, FL, 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son John Thomas Shook Jr. on October 31, 2009.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday April 8 at 10:00 AM from the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 North Washington St. Greencastle with Rev. Martin Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle.
