Obituary

Bobby Joe Hayes, 68, of Roanoke died Monday, April 4, 2016. He was born May 24, 1947 a son of the late Frank and Virginia Hayes. Bob was a retired truck driver from Akzo Nobel. He was a stock holder at Blue Hill Golf Course and loved playing golf with all his senior friends. If there are golf courses in Heaven, Hopefully God will put him in charge of a chore on the course. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis Hayes and Rev. Herbert F. Hayes.

Surviving him are his wife of 49 years, Barbara Newman Hayes; daughter, Karen Thomas (Chip); special granddaughter, Autumn Lin O’Connor; sisters, Peggy Matherly (George) and Brenda Webster (Bob); brothers, Tom Hayes (Susan), Dennis Hayes (Jackie), Ralph Hayes (Cindy); sister-in-law, Brenda G. Hayes.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Keeley and the Carilion ICU and Palliative Care Unit staff for all the care and support.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Bible Baptist Church, Youth Bus Ministry, P.O. Box 2005, Roanoke, Virginia 20009.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, April 8, 2016 at Evergreen Burial Park with Pastor Rick Brown officiating.
