On June 21, 1948, Marjorie was united in marriage with Lowell John Slocum in Mt. Pleasant. Lowell passed away on May 22, 1981.
Rogene was a church organist for several churches for over forty years. She was a composer of sacred music, which was her passion in life. She attended Oberlin Conservancy and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Central Michigan University.
Marjorie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant since April 2, 1942. She attended the Alma United Methodist Church when she lived in Alma.
Survivors include her children, Emily and Michael Moerlins of Alma, John Slocum of E. Syracuse, New York and Mary and Alex Siachames of Willow Springs, North Carolina; two grandchildren: Monica and Tom Darga and Demitri and Krista Siachames; two great grandchildren: Della and Emma Siachames; a sister, Elinor Verville of Tulsa, Okalahoma and a sister-in-law Margie Trout of Annapolis, Maryland.
Rogene was preceded in death by her husband; a son, William; both parents and a brother Maurice Trout.
A service celebrating Rogene’s life was held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from the Rowley Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Andrew Miller of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. A
private family graveside service was held at Denver Township Cemetery.
