Gladys M. Fields, 92, of Vincennes passed away April 1, 2016 at the Gentle Care Nursing Center. She was born May 25, 1923 in Decker, IN the daughter of John Henry and Bertha Burke Midkiff.

She was a graduate of Decker High School and during WW II she worked as a riveter at the Republic Airplane Factory in Evansville building the P-47 Thunderbolt. She married Marion “Barney” Fields and they made their life together until his death on May 20, 1994. She worked for the Vincennes School Corp at Franklin School as a cook and was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the American Legion, Eagles and Moose Auxiliaries. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

children - Beth Ann Joary, Janet M. Bridgewater and her husband John, Bruce Fields and his wife Connie, and Posey Carie and her husband Jack
grandchildren - Eric Bridgewater, Jennifer Webb, Johna Schulz, Alissa Wayman, Tony Joary, Amanda Fields and Brian Fields

Funeral services will be celebrated Friday April 8, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Good Samaritan Hospice.
