There seems to be a conflict of information as to where Margaret Jane was born. The 1880 census taken in Kaufmann Co., Texas shows Margaret Jane Kirkpatrick as being born in North Carolina. The 1860 census taken in Smith Co. shows on John Ecter Deen's household census and also on Sarah Elizabeth Mayfield's household census that Margaret was born in Georgia. John Ecter and Sarah Elizabeth were siblings and children of Margaret Jane & Asberry Deen. Census: 1880 Kaufman Co, TX Census: 1860 Smith Co, TX.
