Solomon Knappenberger, 91, of Delmont, went to his eternal rest, Wednesday, February 10, 1897. He was was born April 15, 1805 in Franklin Township (Murrysville), Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania to John and Hannah (Cort) Knappenberger.

He married Elisabeth Walton, daughter of George and Magdalene (Blose) Walton, on April 29, 1830 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. They
settled on a farm in the Beaver Run Valley of Salem Township, not far from Manor Valley. Solomon, like many of the Knappenbergers, was a carpenter and contractor.

He and Elisabeth were blessed with twelve children: John Joseph, Mary,
Magdalena, Hannah, Henry, Elizabeth S., Lydia, Jeremiah William, Susannah, Caroline, Martha and Solomon B. "Buz".

Solomon and his wife worshiped all their lives in the Denmark Manor Reformed Church where they brought up their children to be true to the teachings and ideals of the Christian church.
