Joseph (Howard) Holland, 88, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, October 6, 2006. Howard was born in Franklin County on November 26, 1917 the youngest son of the late Joseph Henry and Theresa Conner Holland. Howard married the love of his life, Lena Sloan, she survives him. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Patricia Mitchell in 1983; a sister and three brothers. Howard was retired, from J.W. Hancock Steel, where he ran a cutting machine. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
