Obituary

Larry A. Cooper, 67, of Troutville, died Monday, February 15, 2016 at his home following a brief illness.

Larry was born in Roanoke May 13, 1948 and lived in Botetourt for 39 years. He was the son of the late James Hudson and Lula Harris Cooper.

Larry proudly served 1967-1969 in the US Navy with the Seabees during the Viet Nam Conflict. He was a member of Colonial Baptist Church in Blue Ridge for 40 years, Star City Cruisers Car Club, and The Christian Motorcycle Association.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Brenda C. Akers Cooper; fur babies: Shadow and Buffy; sisters and brother-in-law Rita Blankenship of Ocala, Florida, Fawn and David Cadd of Vinton, Julia Cooper of Edinburgh, Virginia; brother-in-law Dennis (Linda) Akers of Troutville; sisters-in-law Chris Hill of Virginia Beach, and Janie (Gill) Wampler of Partlow, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be 11:00 AM Thursday, February 18 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville with Reverend John Dooley officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday (TODAY) 2-4 & 6-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Colonial Baptist Church Missions Fund, 221 Hillcrest Street, Blue Ridge, VA 24064.
