Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Elizabeth Lambert Shelton, 94 of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 6 in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Gaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. and again Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs.Shelton passed away Monday morning, April 4, 2016 at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County in Algood, TN.
She was born March 12, 1922 in White County, TN to the late Andy Arnold and Annie Elizabeth Goodwin Lambert.
Their family late relocated to Putnam County where she was raised and attended Wilhite School.
Mrs. Shelton was a long time member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church.
She was retired from Teledyne-Stillman, And formerly employed at ACME Boot company.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Marvin Jones of Cookeville; step-son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Nancee Shelton of Troy, MI; two granddaughters, Jennifer Farmer (husband Daryl), and Janella Montgomery (husband Patrick) all of Cookeville; 8 step-grandchildren, Debbie Termini, Carl Shelton, Reggie Shelton, Cindy Armoian, Jennifer Hart, Scott Shelton, Brett Shelton, and Lance Shelton; and one great-grandchild, Erica Farmer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Cordell Shelton (they were married for 46 years); four brothers, Beecher, Ernest, Clarence, and Cloyd Lambert; three sisters, Maggie Fults, Martha Young, and Rosetta Bussell; step-son, Bill Shelton; two step-grandchild, Steven Shelton and Jerome Shelton; and three nephews, Bob Bussell, Danny Lambert, and Ernie Lambert.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Tennessee 1459 Interstate Drive, Ste.211, Cookeville TN. 38501.
