Glenn was born on May 4, 1927 to parents Frank A. and Mary May (Goddard) Hill, the second of five children. He was born in the Holyoke area, but the family moved to Arapahoe Colorado shortly after his birth where they farmed for a short period of time before moving back to Phillips County and settling on the farm where they raised their family seven and a half miles northeast of Haxtun. Glenn's early years of school were at one room schoolhouses. For his first five years, he went to Prairie Star northeast of Paoli, then to Plainview which was northwest of Paoli after which he attended Haxtun High School graduating in 1945. After high school he had several jobs including working at the Paoli gas station and the sugar beet factory in Ovid.
Glenn married Lois Mae Amen of Haxtun on August 15, 1949. They built a house on a farm northeast of Haxtun where they moved and raised their family of four sons and a daughter. Farming was Glenn's life and even though it was long hours and hard work, he didn't consider it a job - it was what he enjoyed most. Later in life, when asked if there was anything special he would like to do or place he would like to visit, his reply was that his enjoyment came from driving the roads and looking at the crops. In the summer, it was a common sight for anyone that drove by the Hill farm to see Glenn driving his pickup or ATV around the farm keeping watch on the cornfields and sprinklers. He was actively involved in farming well into his 80’s and considered his value to be the work that he could produce, a value he stressed to his children. He farmed with his younger brother Jack, sharing equipment and helping each other throughout the year - Jack was his best friend.
He is preceded in death by his wife, mother and father, and younger sister Wilma Rogers, and brother Jack.
Survivors include an older sister and younger sister, and five children. He had 8 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
During his final three years of life, he spent summers on the farm but lived at Brookdale Green Mountain Assisted Living in Lakewood Colorado during the rest of the year. He was extremely thankful and appreciative of the staff that cared for him during the ups and downs that characterized his final years and he was a favorite of the staff that tended him.
