Longtime Lincoln high teacher, principal, dies Olin L. Wills, a longtime principal of Lincoln High School in Portland, died Wednesday in a Portland care center. He was 89.
Mr. Wills was principal of the high school from 1946 until 1962, when he retired.
He was born in Gettysburg, Pa., and moved with his parents to Portland in 1902. He graduated from Reed College in 1917 and returned to the school to get a master's degree in education in 1939.
He began working with the Portland School District in 1924 at Lincoln, where he was a math teacher until 1934, when he was named head of the math department. In 1944 he was named vice principal of Franklin High School, and in 1946 became principal of Lincoln. At Lincoln he initiate3d one of the first driving instruction courses for students.
Mr. Wills was president of the Alumni Association of Reed College from 1947-48 and was a regent of the college from 1948 to 1950. He was a member of the Portland Kiwanis Club and the Oregon Camellia Society.
Survivors included his wife, Theresa; a son, Roger of Milwaukie; a daughter, Carol of Portland; and one grandchild.
No service will be held, and disposition will be by cremation. Private interment will be in Portland Memorial Mausoleum.
