Gladys was born Aug. 27, 1927, to Charles and Goldie (Simpson) Eutsler. She attended South Charleston High School and the South Charleston United Methodist Church. She worked as a buyer at the Edward Wren's Store in downtown Springfield before going to work at Gohl's Supermarket in South Charleston.
Gladys retired from Community Market and Locker in Port William, a business owned by her father and brother.
She loved to cook and bake (especially pies) and made sure everyone had plenty to eat when she put on a meal. She made beautiful embroidery pieces, most of which she gave away. Her joy in later years was sitting at her kitchen table writing letters and sending cards to her friends.
Besides her parents, Gladys is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James, in 2014; a brother, Robert Eutsler; an infant brother; and her infant twin sister.
As a loving mother, she leaves behind one daughter, Bette Ross of Fairborn. She is also survived by an aunt, Virginia Davis of Urbana; a special cousin, Ginger Bageant of South Charleston; and numerous friends she considered so special and like family.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, April 3 from 2-5 p.m. at Ingling Williams & Lewis Funeral Home-South Charleston, with a celebration of her life on Monday, April 4 at 10 a.m. Rev. Doug Thompson and Rev. Ray Gage will be officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
