Daughter of Thomas and Mary Etta (Purdy) Best Jr. Her mother Mary Etta died of typhoid when Mary Alice was but 6 yrs. old. Her father moved to Covington. Mary Alice married Henry Mason Ramsey Nov. 19, 1865 when she was 16. (His 1st wife). Mother of John Wm., Lydia, Ollie, Jessie,
Phillip Ramsey and unnamed infant.
