The family moved when Kenneth was very young to the Madison, Kansas area where he attended two rural schools and graduated from Madison High School in 1937 as a National Honor Society Recipient. He was baptized at the Christian Church in Madison in 1937.

During WWII, he worked at the Lockheed Vega Plant in California until he was drafted in 1944. He served with the 66th Armored Field Artillery and attained the rank of Sergeant. He graduated from Kansas State University at Manhattan, Kansas in January, 1950 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts.

Kenneth married Vada Ruth Ward on May 21, 1950 at the Christian Church in Bonner Springs, Kansas. They then moved to Topeka and soon joined Highland Park (now Highland Heights) Christian Church the second Sunday of September in 1950. The family moved to the Shawnee Heights community in 1962 into a new house that Kenneth had constructed over a three year period, working evenings and weekends. There they continued to live the remainder of their lives.

He worked for the Topeka School System for one year. He then joined local Union No. 1445 of the Kansas Building Trades and received his life-time membership in August, 2001. As a carpenter/millwright, he worked at many Topeka plants including Goodyear, DuPont and Essex Wire, and he helped in the repair of the Kansas State House Dome following the 1966 tornado.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Vada Ruth just three days earlier on March 30, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
