Dr. Allen Gifford Peckham, son of Joseph Wilbur and Elizabeth (Gifford) Peckham, was born in Easton, New York, December 6, 1848. His primary education was obtained in the public schools of Easton, supplemented by academic courses at Marshalls Seminary, Easton, and Brattleboro Academy, Vermont, graduating at the latter institution in 1866. Deciding on the profession of medicine, he entered Albany Medical College, after which adopting homeopathy as his school of practice he attended Hahnemann Medical College, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was graduated M. D. in 1871. He established his office in Waterford, New York, where he has since continued a successful practice and is one of its eminent citizens. He is a member of the Homeopathic Medical Society and ex-president of the Homeopathic Society of Northern New York. He supports the candidates of the Republican party, but takes no active part in politics. For two terms he served as health officer of the village. He is a member of the Presbyterian church. Dr. Peckham married, December 26, 1872, Mary Emily Eddy (see Eddy IX). Children:
