Henry Almas' brother - David Almas 1786-1872 - was the grandfather of Catherine Almas who married Samuel Isaac Hannon. Samuel was the son of Mahala Hendershot and grandson of Isaac Hendershot – Mary Margaret Hendershot's brother.
In 1806 Henry Almas received a land grant of 200 acres in Toronto Twp., Peel County, Ont. (Upper Canada Land Books, Bk. G. p. 147, Petition A10). That year he is shown on the Voter's List as residing at Concession 1, Lot 6, Ancaster Twp., Wentworth Co., Ont.
In 1821 Henry Almas bought S 1/2 Lot 6, Con 1, Ancaster Twp from Philip Peer (b1766 Morris County, New Jersey – 1828 Brantford, Ont. Philip Peer's oldest son John Peer married Mary Ann Oliphant, daughter of Catherine Hendershot and Aaron Oliphant and niece of Mary Margaret Hendershot) Henry Almas then sold the land in 1823 to Peter VanSickle.
In the 1816 Ancaster Twp. Assessment Roll it records Henry as owning: 260 acres uncultivated arable pasture, 112 acres uncultivated; Meadow, 1 frame house under 2 stories; 1 oxen, 2 young cattle; 200 acres in Home District & 42 acres in Niagara District.
In the 1818 Ancaster Twp. Assessment Roll it shows Henry as owning: 235 acres uncultivated, 35 arable pasture; 1 frame house under 2 stories; 2 horses, 3 milk cows, 1 horned cattle from 2-5 years. Has a total of 270 acres in Gore District.
In the 1819 Ancaster Twp. Assessment Roll it shows Henry as owning: 200 acres in Home District & 93 acres in Gore District.
In 1823 Henry purchased Conc 4, Lot 53 from Henry Miller (located on the south side of Hwy 53, ab out 1/2 mile east of Bowman Church) . It was sold in 1830 by his widow Margaret Almas.
