Harriett M. McCoy, 88, of Indianapolis, and formerly of West Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008, in the Harborside Healthcare in Indianapolis. She was born Nov. 9, 1919, in West Terre Haute, to George Collins and Pearl Shepherd Collins. Her husband, Harold McCoy, whom she married Nov. 2, 1936, in Terre Haute, preceded her in death in 1992.


Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Smith of Indianapolis; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Cheryl McCoy and Richard and Pat McCoy, all of Indianapolis; four sisters, Virginia Sankey of Riley, Betty Bender and Joann Vandevier, both of Terre Haute, and Erma Cooper of West Terre Haute; eight grandchildren, Debbie Krueckeberg and her husband Tim of Chesapeake, Va., Cathy Hoffmeister and her husband John of Frisco, Texas, Donnie McCoy and his wife Katie, Marianne Staton and her husband Denny, Mike Aue and his wife Brenda, Matt McCoy and his wife Natalie, all of Indianapolis, Ric McCoy and his wife Jennifer of Plainfield, and Tara DeRossett and her husband, J.R. DeRossett of Lakeland, Fla.; 20 great-grandchildren, Scott, Adam, Misty, Eric, Jill, Donnie, Miranda, Richey, Megan, Morgan, Alex, Kate, Marin, Makias, Denny, Derrek, Dasee, Jeremy, Matt and Marc; and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Mary Eloise McCoy; three sisters, Carol McDaniel, Uldine Harmon, and Marjorie Richardson; and a brother, Bill Collins.


She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in West Terre Haute. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
