SERVICE PLANNED FOR J. A. SMITH

Roscoe - Funeral services for J. A. Smith, 64, will be held this afternoon at 4 in the local Baptist church with the Rev. G. A. Elrod officiating, assisted by the Rev. G. W. Parks.

Mr. Smith fell dead while working near his locomotive that he just brought in off his regular run from Roscoe to Snyder at 3:00 Sunday afternoon. He had been an employee of the R. S. & P. Railroad in Roscoe for 18 years.

He is survived by his widow; two sons, Harry A. Smith of Texon and Cecil Smith of Odessa; and two brothers, Frank O. Smith of Mount Olive, and Peter W. Smith of Britton, Okla.

Mr. Smith had been ill during the past few weeks and it was thought that his illness had weakened him so as to cause the fatality.

Interment will be made in the local cemetery.
