JEAN FRANCES (BURTON) PAYNE

Jean was many things to a large group of people: the mother of four children; grandmother of five children; great-grandmother of four children. She was the wife of the late Jay Howard Payne, Sr. Jean was a mother first, always there for her family. After her husband, Jay died, she never remarried, but instead, became a Licensed Practical Nurse, working at first Washington (PA) Hospital, and then for ten years at Woodville State Hospital; she was an Avon Lady, working to win five Mrs. Albee awards. Jean had a competitive, and a compassionate spirit. Later, she sold real estate.

She was a member of Ss. Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church in Scott Township where she regularly attended daily Mass, helping to serve the priest in distribution of the Blessed Sacrament. She also helped take Communion to those of the parish who were shut-ins, or who could not come to Mass.

Jean was the mother of James Walter Payne, of Jay Howard Payne, Jr., of Jon Edward Payne, and Janet Theresa (Payne) Bakos. She will be missed; after a period of over two years of failing memory, may she rest in eternal peace.
