MRS. STEWART, 98, DIES SATURDAY

Mrs. Sally K. Stewart, 98, oldest resident of Nolan county, died at 4:40 Saturday morning at the home of her son, Bolin C. Stewart, 300 East Arkansas, after a protracted illness.

Mrs. Stewart was well-known among the older residents of West Texas, having come to Texas in 1848.

She was the eldest of five generations, having 105 descendants.

Born Sally Katherine Perry on Dec. 19, 1841, she came to Bastrop County when seven years old from her birthplace in Mobile, Ala. After her marriage in 1863 to William Jefferson Stewart, she moved to Burnet County where she resided until 1897. The family then moved to Nolan County.

She is survived by two sons, Bolin Christopher Stewart of Sweetwater and Divide and John William Stewart of Roscoe; 25 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Three children preceded her in death.

Mrs. Stewart had been a member of the Church of Christ for 70 years, having been baptized in the North Gabriel River in Burnet County.

Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the graveside in Hylton Cemetery with J. P. Crenshaw, minister of the Sweetwater Church of Christ, officiating. He will be assisted by Bailey Sligers.

Johnston Funeral Home is directing arrangements.
