Catherine Price Robinson, devoted wife & mother of two sons, died peacefully on July 23, 2020.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Lowell Chalmus Robinson, Sr., her son Lowell Chalmus (Robbie) Robinson, Jr., her parents Willie & Elsie Price, her brother & sister in law O’Neal & Agnes Price. She is survived by her son William Rodney Robinson (Patti) of Auburn, Al, her daughter in law, Melanie Robinson Bell of Buchanan & her grandchildren Lowell Chalmus (Trey) Robinson III of Lawrenceville, William Bradley Robinson of Buchanan, Molly Price Robinson of Birmingham, Al & Evie Stone Robinson of Greenville, SC

Born to Willie Grady & Elsie Saxon Price on October 7th, 1927 Catherine spent her early years, as did many Depression era families, moving to find work. She was born in Anniston, AL & along with her older brother O’Neal moved near Tallapoosa, GA when she was 7 years old. Prior to starting high school, the family moved to town & the house on Robertson Ave in Tallapoosa which was, at the time, was across the street from Tallapoosa High School. During high school Catherine worked up town at Lipham’s Department store to make spending money & was always very proud to be from Tallapoosa. She graduated THS in 1944 & took a job at the Sears, Roebuck & Co mail order warehouse & retail store on Ponce de Leon Ave in Atlanta where she lived in a boarding house & rode the train home to Tallapoosa on the weekends.

During high school Catherine met a young fellow from the Waco, Ga community who also graduated in 1944 but from Bremen High School, THS’s rival, named Lowell Robinson. They were married on October 31st, 1947 & attended the Waco Halloween Festival afterward. Lowell & Catherine worked at Sewell’s for the next few years until leaving for Macon & her beloved Mercer University where they both attended graduating in 1955, from there off to Southeastern seminary at Wake Forrest, NC. From Lowell’s first church, Thanksgiving Baptist Church in Selma, NC to the missionary church they helped start in Beaufort, SC Catherine embraced the role of a minister’s wife & work tirelessly in many roles, her servants’ heart would guide her throughout her life.

Robbie, the oldest was born in Raleigh, NC in 1957 & Rodney, the youngest in Savannah in 1965 became her focus & no boys could have ever had a more dedicated mother. Moving back to Bremen in 1970, Catherine & the family would attend First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years & loved the Marion Wasdin class. Lowell’s sudden death in 1979 left a void that Catherine would never fill, if you ever asked if she would get married again her answer was always the same, “I am married”! Raising Rodney alone was a challenge she readily excepted, never backing down & never wilting under the stress of being a single parent. Graduating from Mercer with a degree in Education & later with her masters from West Georgia, Catherine taught at H.A. Jones Elementary school until her retirement in 1990 & although she loved teaching, she loved retirement more!

Catherine enjoyed traveling & she loved to serve so she combined the two in the form of mission trips. Multiple visits to Jamaica, South Dakota & Croatia gave here the chance to see the world & spread God’s message. Her family gave here a retirement trip to Hawaii & while it was not an official mission trip, we are pretty sure someone on the big island was witnessed to at some point! Catherine’s local Christian service consisted of tireless hours working at the Haralson County Ministries store in Bremen. Over the years she sorted, folded, priced & bundled truckloads of donated clothing, boxed tons & tons of food items & repaired furniture just to help the lives of those in need & to serve God.

Catherine’s life was so full & she adored her 4 grandchildren: Trey, Brad, Molly & Evie tagging along on dozens of vacations, sleeping beside them on Christmas Eve, baking with them on Thanksgiving, climbing trees & sneaking them sweets behind their parent’s backs. The last 12 years Catherine split time between Robbie & Rodney’s house where she enjoyed family reunions, more vacations, holiday & birthday parties, church, Auburn football & basketball games & lots of time on the screened in porch.

As our family attempts to process the extraordinary void that Catherine’s death creates, we are comforted in God’s grace & the peace we have found in knowing that she is lived her best life & that her salvation is secure. A graveside service will be held at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Bremen, Ga on Sunday July 26th, 2020 at 10:00 AM-EST, funeral arrangement by Hightower Funeral Home, Bremen, Ga.
