Carolyn Sue Linney Pearson, age 93, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, April 4, 2016 at Wilkesboro Baptist Church with Rev. Al Andrews and Dr. Chris Hefner officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall. A private family burial service will be held at Mountlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Pearson was born Thursday March 22, 1923 in Wilkesboro to Rev. William Ernest Linney and Florence Poole Linney. She graduated from Wilkesboro High School in 1941 and attended Mars Hill College. She was a retired kindergarten teacher. She was a member of Wilkesboro Baptist Church for 79 years where she sang in the choir, served in WMU and many committees, and was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class. She sang with Seniors on Stage, was a talented artist, seamstress, and loved to crochet. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters; Pauline Wall, Madge Sturdivant, Helen Cashion, Lillian Foster, and Betty Waugh and six brothers; Ernest and Edgar Linney (twins), Douglas and Donald Linney (twins), Joe Linney, Dan Linney and one infant daughter, Sylvia Pearson.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Stokes Pearson, two daughters; Rebecca Pearson Lane of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and Robyn Pearson Berry and husband Bob of Wilkesboro; one son; Ron Pearson and wife Cindy of Wilkesboro, and two grandsons; Brandon Berry and Jordan Berry and wife Erica.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wilkesboro Baptist Church, P.O. Box 61, Wilkesboro, NC 28697.
