On-line obituary:

Michael James Festa, 23, of Bellevue, left us too soon on November 15, 2015. Tragically, Michael died of an accidental heroin overdose, but that is not his whole story. He was born on September 14, 1992 in Bellevue, the son of Terri and Robert Festa. Michael was primarily home educated but attended Eastside Christian School in second grade as well as Eastside Catholic School in ninth grade.

Among some of his more notable accomplishments, Michael achieved his black belt in Taekwondo at age 16, and also placed in the top fifth percentile on the National Latin Exam. Michael was a talented musician who played piano and guitar, but his real love was drums. In 2004, with his family, Michael spent three months in South Africa serving AIDS orphans and the elderly. A few years later, Michael traveled to the gulf coast of Texas with his grandfather on a Samaritan’s Purse rapid response team to assist people impacted by devastation caused by Hurricane Ike.

Michael is survived by his son, Milo Festa, his parents, Terri Festa and Robert Festa; his brother Stephanos Kazakos, and sister, Monica Ridani. Michael also leaves his maternal grandparents, Lorraine and Edward Doyne, of Kirkland; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins – all of whom loved him dearly.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Flintoft’s Funeral Home in Issaquah. All are welcome to attend a graveside service on Friday, November 27th at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue, WA. Immediately afterward, a celebration of Michael’s life will be held at Calvary Chapel Eastside in Bellevue, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the King County Drug Diversion Court, 516 3rd Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104 where they have a special 501(c)(3) fund set up to benefit program participants.
