Mr. Bobby Clyde Helms, age 82, of Concord, passed away April 1, 2016.

He was born in Dade City, FL, son of the late Clyde Hayward Helms and Alice Boyakin Helms. At the age of 18, he began working for American Can Co. in Dade City, New Orleans, LA, and College Park, GA. He retired after 30 years. During that time he had several side jobs; painting houses, raising cattle, and being a handyman.

After retiring, he went to jewelry school and became a jewelry repairman. He started farming and continued raising cows and building houses. He and his wife, Shirley, lived in Concord for over 30 years. They were active members of Concord Baptist Church, where Bobby served as a Deacon. He gave generously to anyone he saw in need, not just food and clothes, but also his time. He was dedicated to his family, loved his community and his church. He was proud to be an American. He instilled great wisdom and values in his three daughters and their children. He was a kind, wise, and Godly man.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Helms, sister, Elizabeth DesRosier of Dade City, FL.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Sharon D. LaClair (Alan) of Molena, Debra L. Godby (Danny) of Albany, Cynthia K. Mobley (Leon) of Concord; grandchildren: Bobi Jo Jones, Chris Aughtman, Kelly Aughtman, Travis Mobley, Jason Mobley and Candice Franklin; six great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit the family on Monday, April 4, from 10-11 a.m., at Concord Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., at the church with Pastor Chris Teasley and Rev. Bob McCombs officiating. Burial will be held in Old Hebron Cemetery in Concord.
