Patsy Griffin, aged 83, died on April 1, 2016 at her home, after a struggle with cancer. Patsy was born July 11, 1932, in Lufkin, Texas and was the daughter of Burney and Ruth Denney. Patsy was a member of Second Baptist Church in Marshall, TX.
Patsy thoroughly enjoyed her family and loved having them all gather and spend time together. She was light of her children and grandchildren’s hearts and taught them how to “live life well” and treasured each one of them. She was always beautiful and modeled for the local shops downtown in her younger years and seemed to always have a smile that lit up the room. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1950. She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother to her five children. She loved to cook, could answer almost every question on Jeopardy and could master any crossword puzzle and could holler with the BEST of them in watching the Cowboys, as well as show her discontent when she knew they could have won the game. Patsy loved laughter and taught us to love Jesus, “Do the right thing” and to “Never miss an opportunity to keep your mouth shut!” She was funny, witty and loved each of us unconditionally.
In 1952, Patsy married the love of her life Harold Wyatte Griffin, they lived in Marshall, Texas as of date and were married for 64 years. Their love was a true example of faithfulness and showing the love of Christ to each other and they both have left a legacy for their children in forgiveness and sticking it out…because life is never easy. Patsy raised her five children with great wisdom and grace.
Patsy is survived by her husband, Harold Griffin, her sister, Bernice Starke, son, Mitchell Griffin of Greenwood, LA, daughters, Jody Sparkman of Marshall, TX and son-in law Sid, Shelley Oney of Marshall, TX and son-in law Darrell, Lisa Holcomb of Longview, TX and was proceeded in death by her son Matthew and her brother Jimmy Denney as well as her mother Ruth Denney and Father, Burney Denney. She also is survived by nieces Rhonda Saintignan , Fern Krc and Jerri Beth Kezerle, nephew, David Denney, and a number of other relatives and dear friends. Patsy had 8 grandchildren, Zack Griffin, Tiffany Hitt, Molly Hamilton, Nicholas Holcomb, Anna and Sam Oney, Miranda Telford and Alissa Miller. She had 6 great grandchildren, Drew Isaic Telford, Tara Lynn Hitt and Hannah Grace Hamilton, Mikayla and Maebree Sparkman and Ryleigh Graves.
