Mary Dola Bagwell

Mary Dola White Bagwell, “Dola,” aged 98, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2016 of causes incident to age. Dola was born on September 17, 1917 in Sanford, Colorado, the ninth and youngest child of John Crabtree White and Nancy Elnora Taylor White. Dola grew up attending school in Sanford and living on the family ranch in Bountiful. At age eight, she nearly died after a long illness with rheumatic fever and polio.

Dola married LaVere Norland Bagwell on December 24, 1936 in Taos, New Mexico and their marriage was sealed for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. To this union was born five children, BoJean, Robert La Vere, Nancy Catherin, Blane Norland and Beverly, Dola and LaVere raised their family in Manassa. They served faithfully in the church, including fulfilling missions in Peru and Argentina. Dola was always fun to visit with as she had a great memory and quick wit. She loved her family, reading, and keeping a beautiful yard. Her last years were spent in the San Luis Care Center and her family expresses their heart-felt appreciation to all the good people there.

Dola was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings; beloved in-laws Luther and Katie Bagwell; sister-in-law and dear friend, Ruth Bagwell; her grandson Scott Sellers; great-grandson Michael Sellers; and her daughter Beverly.

She is survived by her children Robert and Nellie May Bagwell, BoJean and Jim Sellers, Nancy and Robert Gray, Blaine and Roberta Bagwell and son-in-law Joe Spencer. She is also survived by 29 of her 30 grandchildren and their spouses; 87 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa and Friday, April 1, 2016 from 10:00-10:45 am in the Primary Room at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Manassa. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Friday, April 1, 2016 also at the Manassa Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will follow services in the Manassa Cemetery. Contributions have been requested to go to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints General Missionary Fund.
