He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Smith Ragland and his daughter Makala, who was the love of his life. Other survivors include his brother, David C. Ragland Jr.; four nephews, David "Brother" Ragland, Sean Ragland, Pete Banton and John Banton; six nieces, Wanda Loya, Regina Ragland, Connie Tillman, Pat Robertson, Sue Breeden and Kay Taylor; and his father-in-law, Keith Smith.
He was predeceased in death by his brother, Hubert L. Banton and his sister, Virginia "Ginny" Taylor.
Duane loved to hunt and fish and share many stories with his numerous friends. He was employed for numerous years at Brady Bushey Ford. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from6 until 8 p.m. at the Wells/Sheffield Funeral Home in Lovingston, Va.A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016 at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Price officiating. Interment will follow at the Scottsville Cemetery. A celebration of life luncheon will be held at the Scottsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, 800 Irish Road, Scottsville, Va. immediately following the burial. Arrangements are under the direction of Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel of Lovingston (434) 263-4097.
