LINCOLN, June 8 --- Charles Gibbs, well known retired farmer of this city, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday following a week's illness.
Mr. Gibbs was born in Menard county, June 27, 1851, and died at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 10 days. He was married May 30, 1872, to Mary Giertz who survives with the following children: Frank, Spencer, and Carl Gibbs, of Chicago; Fred Gibbs, Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Cora Newton, Compton, Calif.; Mrs. Carl Smith, Kankakee; and Miss Nora Gibbs, at home.
